Knit a Woolly Welcome for a Refuweegee.
Wild Knits Glasgow Charity Fundraiser 2024
Make a difference with two needles and some yarn.
Refuweegee is helping forcefully-displaced people receive a warm welcome in Scotland.
Since 2015, they have distributed over 10,000 community-built Welcome Packs. In their free shop, they provide toiletries, clothing and toys to more than 150 people each week.

In this video I’m telling you why I’m hosting this KAL, who gave me the idea and how YOU can help too!
What they do
Refuweegee enable the existing community to extend the warm welcome that Glasgow is renowned for. They do so by letting locals put together a Welcome Pack for each new arrival.
This is a tote bag or rucksack filled with some toiletries, snacks, a notebook and pen, a wee token of Scotland, a welcome letter, as well as a scarf, gloves and a warm hat.
Refuweegee also run a free shop where they have clothing, toiletries, household items, toys, and hopefully soon also some Refuweegee Hats.
The Refuweegee Hat -
a good deed times two.
All proceeds from the Refuweegee Hat pattern between October 2024 and March 2025* will go directly to Refuweegee. But our good deed doesn’t have to stop there.
During the official KAL everyone can knit a hat and donate it to one of the drop-off points (or send it in) and each hat will go into a welcome pack or to Refuweegee’s free shop - for a truly warm welcome.
*Wild Knits Glasgow is a one-woman show and I need to keep the admin for this at manageable level.
